Sailing Icon of the Seas - Eastern Caribbean - March 9-16, 2024

We drove on Friday after school and work to Miami and stayed at Courtyard Marriott Downtown Brickell. Parking was included in our AAA rate. It was late when we arrived, so really just slept and showered there. We were able to park on the same floor we were staying which was convenient. It was a short drive to port the next morning.

Our 1st view of Icon of the Seas!

We dropped our luggage off around 11:40 and were on board by 12:10! We did the muster drill check in and then grabbed some pizza at Sorrento’s. My son loves the pizza here! We walked around and then headed to Windjammer for a great buffet. They had filet mignon and lobster!

We were able to drop our things in our room around 1pm. We were booked in room 8256 which was a handicapped ocean view balcony. It was quite spacious. It did lack some storage space, so we kept our suitcase on the floor. It did have lots of grab bars in the bathroom which were nice for hanging bathing suits. We had a room for 4, so the sofa bed pulled out. I have heard the rooms for 3, they just sleep on the sofa and it doesn’t pull out.

We changed into bathing suits and headed up to the main pool. There were a few seats available and several loungers in the pool.  We also enjoyed the hot tub.

We explored a little and then went to the room to change. Our luggage was there, so we brought it in. We had early dinner in the MDR on floor 3 at 5pm. This was the dining room for My Time Dining and we often saw a line at 6:30 to get in as we were leaving. We could see the window from our table (1/2 booth, 1/2 seats) and out to the ocean. I believe the floor 5 dining room looks out to life boats.

Dinner was okay. I had prime rib and it was a little tough. We didn’t have a show reserved tonight, so we explored. Kids played some ping pong in the enclosed area - a great idea! We all played mini golf which was very fun. We looked for ducks and my little girl found one!

We love hiding and finding ducks

We explored more checking out Surfside - a nice area geared for kids. And then headed to the Dueling Piano bar and my little girl was called up on stage!
