Cozumel - port Icon of the Seas

We have been to Cozumel several times on cruises. We have done one other snorkeling cruise through Disney, but the snorkeling was terrible on that trip. I saw a friend post photos of an excursion to El Cielo so decided to try that. We prebooked a snorkel boat to El Cielo and other reefs. It was amazing! One of our best excursions and also not very expensive.

Meeting spot for the excursion

We found the meeting spot pretty easily. It was a short walk from the port. We waited awhile and then were driven to the marina. I was a little skeptical because the van didn’t even have enough room for all the passengers. Another family had their daughter sit on her mom’s lap. And it was in poor condition.

The boat was quite small, but there was a snorkel guide who swam with you and pointed out things to see, a photographer (cost extra) and a captain. There were 3 stops and the 1st stop had lots of fish. I believe this was Columbia Reef.

They had nice waist belts to help you float. We brought our own snorkel gear. The next stop was I think El Cielo - we saw lots of marine life here.

Barracuda
Eagle Ray

Starfish

Reef shark

Sea turtle

We loved it! You “drift snorkel” on this excursion. So you snorkel and then the boat comes to get you. So there is no swimming against the current. Even my daughter who doesn’t love snorkeling enjoyed this place.

Our last stop was kind of a sand bar - I think they called it El Cielito - there was starfish and the captain made each family their own plate of fresh guacamole, salsa and chips. We saw some Rays as well.

I would highly recommend this excursion. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
